West Indies Group of University Teachers (WIGUT) (Jamaica) made the announcement in a release on Thursday, stating that the action will remain in force until the situation is resolved satisfactorily.

The current situation has triggered concern amongst the staff as to whether they will receive their December salaries and other outstanding monies on time, according to WIGUT.
The union is requesting an emergency meeting with the management of The UWI Global Campus while urging management “to address the matter immediately to bring an end to this untenable situation.”
