WIN promises “competitive salary” for athletes representing Guyana

Presidential candidate for We Invest in Nationhood (WIN), Azruddin Mohamed

Kaieteur Sports –
The We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) political party officially rolled out its manifesto yesterday, unveiling an ambitious and wide-ranging vision for sports development in Guyana should they be elected to government.

Led by prominent businessman Azruddin Mohamed, WIN is one of six political parties contesting the upcoming September 1 General Elections. In their manifesto presentation, the party outlined several key areas of national development, and sports, they made clear, is a major priority.

According to the WIN manifesto, they intend to establish a National Professional Athlete Programme (N-PAP) to provide structured financial support to the country’s National Athletes, which they say will help to provide competitive salaries while training and representing Guyana abroad.

The party’s plans for the sector include a comprehensive, year-round initiative designed to scout, train, and support young Guyanese talent, not only in sports, but also in music, dance, and the arts. As part of this initiative, talent hubs will be established in each region, serving as development centres for emerging creatives and athletes.

WIN plans to collaborate with schools and youth organizations to identify and recommend promising individuals. These partnerships will support the creation of regional incubator hubs outfitted with modern training spaces and resources to nurture talent at the grassroots level.

According to the manifesto, the WIN party is committed to providing structured coaching, mentorship, and clear pathways to scholarships and professional opportunities for young people. The initiative will be supported by the hosting of annual national showcases and competitions, giving aspiring athletes and artists a platform to demonstrate their skills and gain national exposure.
With Mohamed’s well-known background in sport and youth development, the WIN party believes that their manifesto signals a serious commitment to transforming Guyana’s sporting landscape through investment in infrastructure, human capital, and long-term opportunity.
